In honor of MLK Day, the focus of our potluck is on “The Voices of Resistance”. Come hear inspiring stories and consider getting more involved in direct non-violent action in opposition to larger forces undermining our community.
Alli Welton is a sophomore student at Harvard. On January 7th, she and seven other youth climate justice activists from New England were arrested at the Westborough, MA office of TransCanada for nonviolent civil disobedience in protest of the Keystone XL pipeline. Cathy Hoffman a veteran of non-violent direct action campaigns in numerous movements over the past forty years: disarmament, gay rights and women’s rights, Central American solidarity, anti-war protests from the 70s to the present, Palestinian sovereignty and most recently the Occupy movement, where she served as a non-violence trainer and process consultant.
City Life / Vida Urbana Bank Tennants fight to keep their homes, and will share their stories of resistance and direct action.
We will about their experience with non-violent resistance as part of change movements in the recent past or present. You too can share your stories.
Gathering around 6:30 for potluck, and then starting the program around 7. Bring your own plate, silverware and cup – there is a sink to wash these and it helps with clean up.
