The Festival Garden is the first public vegetable garden to be established on Boston city property. It is located in the Southwest Corridor Park across from Stonybrook T stop in JP, near the basketball court.
It is a free-picking-for-the-public garden maintained by community effort and by JP neighbor Jenny Jones.
Jenny and others worked hard and tirelessly with the city and state to eventually secure permitting to grow vegetables on the site. This was an important step toward reconceiving public land as a potential source of local food.
