Making Hurricane Preparedness Fun…and Delicious. Like to be prepared?
Interested in organizing an Emergency Preparedness Pie Party in your neighborhood?
Weather experts predict we’ll have 3-6 major hurricanes this fall: http://www.climate.gov/news-features/videos/atlantic-hurricane-season-outlook-may-23-2013-video
Are you and your neighbors prepared for these kinds of extreme weather events or other “disruptions”? Are you interested in getting to know your neighbors? Host a “Preparedness Pie Party”!
10-20 of your closest neighbors will gather to eat pie, socialize, and think through the best way to prepare for emergencies. Together, you’ll identify key things to include in an emergency preparedness kit, discuss important ways to be prepared as a community, and more. As the Washington State Initiative “Map Your Neighborhood” says, “You’re only as prepared as your neighbors.” Read Chuck Collins’ recent blogpost here: http://www.yesmagazine.org/blogs/chuck-collins/making-hurricane-preparedness-fun-and-delicious
